Chocolate?

I can trade in for a new phone Oct. 11th, my service provider is VZW.

I've looked at it in the store a few times, and it seems like a pretty good phone. The touchpad was, well, touchy, but I got used to it. The music quality was great also, but it's bolted down so you cant really pick it up and get the feel of the phone.

All of my other phones have been flip-phones, and I really like that style, but the Chocolate seems to be the best phone out for VZW right now. My budget is $150-$200 max, and I'm not going to wait another month for a phone to come out that's better.

I'm looking for some suggestions, stories, or whatever you have on the Chocolate. I have read reviews that say they're great, then the user comments under it say that they have phone and battery problems, that the call quality isn't good, and that you can't see the screen in the sun.

Is this stuff true and the reviews just aren't getting the problems? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Yeah its a okay phone i dont like sliders too much also they released the km1 krazr phone recenty but ill stick with my v710 for a while myself im waiting on the l7 to come out.

Wow, I did not know the memory was not expandable.... What's the point? Even though I don't use it for mp3, when I take pictures, I never delete them. So I definately need expandable memory.

the chocolate is by far the best phone ever made. it pwns my P990, my w900, and my N93 out of the water!

BUY IT!!!!! IT WILL GET YOU LAID!!!!!

ok. there is an expandable memory slot (microSD, Transflash) and is a great phone IF you are going for the "wow" factor. one of my personal HUGE dislikes of this phone is that the number pad is extremely small, and is massively hard to use with my big, fat fingers. if you have small fingers, it may be ok, but that keypad is very small either way.

My fault, i thought i read on a website that it didnt.

I played around with one at my walmart, even though it was a dummy, it is the same size. the buttons were WAY to little. It's a definate "wow" phone, but if you have big fingers/hands like i do then you should probably look elsewhere.

another couple problems- the user interface is slow and unintuitive. also, it uses a non-standard USB connection, which requires you to have another cable on/around your desk

Alright.

The flash and "wow" factor of a phone wears off pretty soon. It seems like the chocolate isn't such a solid phone, but is focusing on looks and flash.

I'll be keeping whatever phone I buy for the next 2 years (new every two), so I need a solid phone. Good quality.

I am leaning towards the KRZR now, even though I don't know thaaat much about it. It just seems like a better phone. I could be completely wrong though.

Anyways, how do you think the KRZR and Chocolate compare?

Also, is there anyword on a 2nd gen Chocolate coming out soon?

Thanks for all the responses.

krzr will have much more wow, and "what is that" factor. i dont know how coverage, or anything is on the KRZR, but i think it looks fairly cool/nice!

I was just about to mention call quality.

I'm sure it's different everywhere, I'm in michigan.
Any complaints about Chocolate's reception?

Hard choice, but Krzr having better reception is a huge plus.

Thanks again

The GSM Chocolate is not expandable, the CDMA Chocolate through Verizon however, is expandable to 2GB via microSD card. Also has a better screen 240x320. Probably one of the better multimedia phone offerings in Verizons lineup.

i agree with mobileobcession, the chocolate is one of the best multimedia phones for vzw, but i like the krzr much more, because of the smallness and other things.

Well, I've got my new Chocolate in my hand!

I don't see any problems yet, I actually like the touchpad, works fine for me.

I'm hoping not to see any batt. life problems, there's always the return\replacement\warrenty though.

One thing I didn't like was that at the VZW store, they made it sound like you couldn't listen to music at all without the package, even after I asked her specifically, she wouldn't directly answer the question. Scam? Cords are only a few dollars on ebay, and I just bought a Sandisk 1gb microSD card for $35.

Yeah, Verizon likes you to buy content through them. Hopefully they have it at least competitively priced compared to iTunes or it would be a total ripoff for those not in the know.

I'd try using the SD Adapter and a USB Card reader to transfer music. Not sure how well it would work on a VZW branded phone though but it seems very plausible that you can do that.

decent phone, but i wouldn't pay any serious money for it. Quality ain't great, features are there, but the overall product is mediocre.
