Chinese students puzzled at bizarre essay test

This essay topic serves as a red-light tocsin for Chinese not to emulate those so-called industrialized nations including U.S. and Japan that are on the brink of bankruptcy. Why would fat cats on easy fish diet strain themselves to catch rats if they don't have to? Wrong question. Right question: Why not EARN your keeps?
 
Zhang Bing is correct. For now, China is "Looking up to the starry skies" with lofty goals but not "keeping down-to-earth' pragmatism having those goals be incorporated/internalised in the Chinese daily lives. Chinese saying:"knowing and not doing is useless - knowing and doing has to combine into one to get somewhere". When will China bridge the gaps by walking the talks to get down-to-earth so to speak? Knowing is the first step, nonetheless, and yet it has known all these for the last 5,000+ years! Is it getting anywhere?
