1 the chinese calendar is based on the lunar year and the western is based on the sun. For example if you have a birthday in March then in lunar calendar your birthday will be likely in February.

2 sorry I don't know
4 chinese people use fireworks and different statues of gods and golden amulets to protect themselves against bad luck or evil.
5 people toss rice balls wrapped in the lotus leaves into the water but that is out of date, I think and have rowing competitions.
