China, Tibet current events?

I was gone on a media-free vacation for a couple of weeks and I got back with news about China and Tibet and something that's not pleasant that regards the Olympics. Can someone please summarize whats going on? I tried checking CNN, ABC and FOX but none gave clear explainations as to why this is happening though.

Tibetans is using the Olympic torch run to gather attention on their "independence" cause. Thus, Chinese government doesn't allow "illegal protesting". Tibetan thugs riots in Lhasa, Chinese government cracked down on them since many Han and Chinese Muslims got killed. But nobody really know how many Tibetans got killed since there is no news broadcasting allowed. Then "Tibetan supporters" started protesting and interrupting the Olympic torch run in London, Paris and SF as a way to draw attentions to their causes. The majority of rest of the relays didn't have any problems.

Why does it happen? Many reasons, too many to list. Ignorance, hate, mis-understanding, power struggle, fake religions and lies on both sides....
