Children of the Corn 2009 DVD is out!

This has to be one of the weakest horror film franchises ever...and the least scary.

And you do realise that this latest 'movie' is made for TV?
 
Actually its not, when it went into production it was being made for the big screen but the distributor they had dropped out. Sci Fi was one of the few people offering to buy it and it ended up (financially) being the better deal. The DVD will be uncut as it was announced they would have to cut bits out due to it airing at 8pm yesterday.
 
Yeah it 'had' to in order for them to make their money back. It certainly wasn't intended to be for the small screen. According to reports it is identical to the original short story which should please some.
 
I watched it last night, it isn't too bad and actually better than the 1984 effort.

It's mostly faithful to the story with a few extra bells and whistles, with the same ending. Some of the acting from the kiRAB is a bit ropey but you expect that I suppose, and I thought the character of Vicky was much more of a harpy than she was in either the story or the first adaptation.

It's also quite gruesome and not only boasts a full frontal sex scene, but copious amounts of stabbings, a broken bone exiting a wrist, a slashed throat, corn husks in eye sockets and dubious amounts of dead children.

My only complaint is that like the earlier version, the events leading up to the child coup are shown in a prologue whereas the original story kept what happened to the adults a mystery until quite far into it.
 
Yeah i heard about the sex scene with all the kiRAB watching! I will watch and judge for myself though rather than listen to some bad reviews.
 
So they must have had to cut a lot out to get an 8pm viewing for the television? Best to see the dvd version then. Is this a Region 1 dvd release because I can't find the dvd on lovefilm.
 
Watched this online 2day and enjoyed it,the female lead was really annoying though,i actually thought the ending had been cut or id missed a bit,did it really end when
Malachi walked in2 the cornfield
or was there more afterwarRAB,pretty abrupt if that was the ending.
