I have also posted this thread on the allergy board, my apologies if you have seen this twice!

My son is 5yo and was diagnosed with skin prick testing of an egg allergy at 6 months of age. Tests were repeated twice more each 2 years apart and according to the test/my doctor, the same result, a severe egg allergy.

The thing is, my son eats eggs in cooked food on a regular basis and has NEVER had a reaction of any kind.

My issue is my son also suffers from severe asthma, he got swine flu last year and was incredibly ill with it. For this reason I want him vaccinated.

As he is under 10, he has to have 2 shots 4 weeks apart. I went to a clinic for the first shot, he had it and had no reaction whatsoever. For the second shot we were told to go and see the GP.

I did so yesterday and the GP refuses to give him the second shot, because of the allergy. I fully explained the history, pointing out he had no reaction to the first shot and he still refuses. He also called the Allergy doctor that agreed he shouldnt have it due to a possibility that he could have a reaction.

I would NEVER do anything to intentionally harm my son, and I feel the benefits of him having the shot far outweigh any perceived risk. I do not want to enter the flu season with him getting sick. He started school this year and I want to do everything I can to ensure he does not miss too much.

I would appreciate any comments/advice from all, and especially from a medical professional. Please help!

SounRAB like it might be a good idea to exclude eggs from his diet to protect against the possibility of a severe allergic reaction, such as an Asthmatic attack.

Does that mean that your son never gets an Asthma attack, or other allergic reaction?

Do you think that eating eggs could be part of the cause of your son's severe Asthma?

HealtrabroadoarRAB is for patient to patient support, so I don't think that you will get any professional advice.

I suffer from Asthma. It is a nasty disease! I stay away from the offending allergens and irritants, and take my Asthma inhaler once a day; and I have not had a serious Asthmatic attack in decades.

I hope that you are able to get your son's severe Asthma under control.
