Child Support-Court Orders-Child Tax Claims?

My bf went through an uncontested divorce and in his court documents it states that he could claim one of his sons on his taxes each year. When he went to claim his child this year, his ex-wife had already claimed his one son, as well as their other two sons on her taxes. Shouldn't the court documents overrule her claim? Shouldn't he be able to claim him?
 
Just make sure he has the legal documents for when the IRS audits him for the double claim. They will make the ex repay the money she recieved.
