Chicken Pox

I just found out today that Kane has chicken pox. They started on his thighs, so I figured it was a diaper rash and put some Desitin on it. I went to Warped Tour today and as I was walking in the gate I got a phone call from Kane's babysitter telling me he woke up and it was spread all over his entire body. His dad took him to the hospital and is bringing him home in the morning.

How contagious is this? Because I never got them, and my last vaccination was when I got pregnant. I know it can be fatal for adults to get them, which is why I'm freaking out right now. Any input?

Well I got it the second time this year. But it isn't fatal, but it can be very itchy and scratchy, high fever and if you overstress/get cold etc you can get some other disease as well, like lung..uh..fever? nothing serious just annoying.

It would of been dangerous if you would of gotten it when you where pregnant. The chickenpox is contagious through the air too so, you propably already have it. :happysad: But no it isnt dangerous, just veryvery tiring and frustrating, if you get it you should check the pharmacy for something to put on the dots because they itch very fucking much...

Let his dad keep him since your are so worried about yourself.

I've never had chicken pox and wouldn't give a shit about myself if my kids had them. I'd be there to make sure they got the help they needed to get rid of them, even knowing that I have never had it and have never had the vaccine for it.

Once a kid gets Chicken Pox, they never will get it again as their immune sytem puts that little bastard permanently into its memory.

Adults who never got Chicken Pox are likely to get it several times, so consider this a good thing. Better him bitchy and diseased once when it's a baby than bitchy and diseased repeatedly as a teenager/adult.

Calamine lotion will stop the itch, and keep an eye on the pox carefully. They can permanently scar.

duct tape mittens on his hands.

if you got vaccinated there shouldnt be a problem...

also oatmeal baths are awesome for kids with the pox...lessens the itchies.

I haven't had chicken pox for about a decade, but I have gotten whooping cough. It sucks being a grown up and getting childhood diseases. Makes you a lot sicker. Gotta love kids and their cooties.

It's not that I'm ONLY worried about myself. I was worried about him first and foremost, but the doctor said he's fine, he doesn't have it very bad, and he just has to ride it out. His pediatrician was the one who told me to watch myself since I haven't ever had them, because they can show up as shingles in adults. I don't think me having shingles is going to make me a very effective parent considering I'd have to take off of work, and shingles are painful. His dad is a worthless piece of shit and doens't even take him when he's well, let alone when he's sick.

I've heard it's more dangerous if a child gets the chickenpox vaccine. My mother made me hug my next door neighbor when she had the chicken pox so my sister and I would get it over and done with. I plan on doing the same with Sorsha.

I remember it clearing up in about a week, after lots of Aveeno baths, calamine lotion, and running around outside in my underwear and completely nude in the house.

It's not that big of a worry, it will just make your son unhappy.

Here they call it "chickenpox parties" so the kids get it before they get old :happysad: I went to atleast 3-4of them and didn't get it until 17, then I got it again at 21 :happysad:

ps. I'm perty durnk
