chevy transmission problem?

i have a 2003 chevy 4.8l 4 speed automatic truck... today when i put it reverse it wouldnt go... if i shift to park then back to reverse it will work, and no more problems... it isnt all the time this is only the second time.. last time was 2 years ago.. also my lights dim and stuff and my alternator gauge moves allot... i dont know what to do... plz help
