chevy LO3 305 TBI motor vs 350?

so, it's my understanding after a little research that the 305 listed above is a 262 with a 350 crank in it to make a 305...

the cam from a 350 and 305 are interchangeable, so are intakes, and technically, the heads are too, but, it would lower the compression in the 305 to put them on it, and the valves don't necessarily line up, and 400 other problems...

the oil pans are the same,

everything is the same on these damn motors.

the question is,

why do people TRASH these motors and buy 350's instead of taking them to the machine shop and having them bored out to a 350???

i know the motors SUCK inherently with TBI and push a ball shriveling 170hp.... but mostly due to the TBI and various other BS that is easily fixed..

my real question though is whether a 305 can be bored out to be a 350... their essentially the exact same block with a smaller bore right???????????
