chevy colbalt 2006 help?

i have a Chevy cobalt 2006 and i woke up this morning to start my car and when i woke up every time i try to start the engine it makes this clicking sound like as if its trying to start but its not getting anywhere its like as if every time you turn the key the motor doesn't even attempt to start it makes the click sound real loud. i think its my starter but i thought id ask at least on here because i dont have money for mechanic to look at it. i was wondering if anyone with a cobalt has had the same problem? please help
