I was just wondering why Chevy and GM carry the same cars, but they just have different names; such as Tahoe and Denali/Yukon.
Also, they have the same trucks.

Just wondering because it really doesn't make since. When they combined did they have some contract or something?
The questions is:

"Why do they have the same cars?"

They are sister companies, and nearly always have been. GMC means General Motors Commercial. It used to be a commercial truck division, but has evolved into just another outlet of retail consumer trucks. If you look closely the Pontiac Trans Am, and Firebird are nearly Identical to The Chevy Camaro, same is true of the GTO and Chevelle, and countless other GM cars. They do this to expand the market of their cars, selling a Camaro to someone who wouldn't buy a Trans Am seems like a good Idea to me. The problem comes when the market will no longer support all the different brands. Bonus nugget, if you add Chevy and GMC's sales together, Ford has never been the best selling truck. GM is not the only company that does this, Acura is a Honda, Infinity is a Nissan, Lexus is a Toyota, Mercury is a Ford, and a Chrysler is a Dodge. Lastly SUVs are considered trucks, which is all GMC makes.

GM vehicles are higher quality and more expensive, Chevy, is the American Vehicle of choice and is made for some good offroadin

And plus the gov't is so far up their.... ... that they can't really make the good vehicles anymore b\c the gov't taxes them, i.e. example of how liberals are turning our nation socialist

Chevrolet is a General Motors Corporation brand. GMC stands for General Motors Corporation. They are the same company but separate brands.

the trucks are build in the same plant and have subtle differences. The GMC is now known more as a upscale version of the Chevy. They did this to increase their market share and by having more models, they target more customers. Just like Toyota and Lexus, Honda and Acura, Nissan and infinity, which are built on some of the same platforms.
