Chest problems

I am a 28 year old female and I have never had chest pains or anything before. But, for a few days, my chest has been hurting. I keep getting sharp pains in it and then it will feel like there is so much pressure on it. I guess it feels like someone is pushing on it. It isnt a constant pain either. It happens once every couple hours and will last anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes i guess. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I did have a really bad migraine monday. but, thats gone now. Anyone have any clue what could be wrong?? If its serious enough to where i should see a doctor??[/U]

:blob_fire Yes, you should go to the Emergency Room, you could be having a heart attack!

Good luck, I hope I'm wrong and it's just some costochondritis (inflammation in the cartilage of the ribs).

I hope you have gone to the ER already, but if you haven't...go now. Don't mess around with chest pain such as you are describing. One of the reasons that heart attacks are more dangerous for women is that we tend to brush off discomfort to wait and see, not realizing that heart attacks often present differently in women than they do in men. We also tend not to want to "bother" anyone.

Please go, and let the docs tell you what it is.

It sounds like something I had last year: sharp pain that comes and goes and pressure in the chest. It felt like someone was either stabbing me or sitting on my chest. The pain only lasted a few minutes, but it was bad when it came.

Try pressing on the sides of your sternum and also under your arm so that you are pressing towards your sternum. If you can recreate the pain there is a very good chance that you have the inflammed cartilidge AuntieLeeLa was talking about.

When it comes to chest pain, though, you really should see a doctor about it, even if it is something as simple as costochondritis. I put off seeing a doctor about it and the pain got worse before it got better.

Feel better
KDD
