I started having problems with chest pain last july. It started after having gone to the gym and riding my motorcycle. That night I felt sick like I had caught a bug. I felt this way the following day as well. On the third day I no longer felt sick but I had horrible chest pain. After dealing with the pain for 2 weeks I finally went to the doctor. He diagnosed it as costochondritis and prescribed 40 mg of prednisone for 5 days and pc dex cough syrup for a small cough I had(maybe twice a day I coughed).

The prednisone got rid of the pain but my cough never went away. My breathing also felt restricted. About a month later I had a woman run into my parked car. I got really stressed and the chest pain came back. I decided that I would just take advil for it and wait for it to go away. About 3 months later after the pain had not gone away I went to a second doctor. He prescribed dexilant for the heartburn I was having and said to come back in 4 days if the pain persisted. Im pretty sure the heartburn was caused by all the advil I had taken.

After another 2 weeks and the pain was still there I went to a third doctor. He took a couple of x-rays and did a cbc blood test and an h pylori. All were negative. He also prescribed singulair, a cough syrup, mucinex, flonase, and I asked him for more prednisone. The prednisone seemed to help the pain somewhat this time but did not get rid of it like it did the first time.

So Its gotten really cold here the past couple of days and I woke up yesterday at 3 in the morning and the pain my chest is way more intense. It went from the dull pain I was having for months to a sharp pain that I feel when I take a deep breath. Originally it only hurt when I breathed in but now it hurts when I breath in and out. Also that small cough has turned into a chronic cough.

Anyways Im in a lot of pain now and not sure what to do. I called my doctor and he wants me to come in again but I dont have any faith that he can figure out what the problem is. Should I go to the hospital or is there another route I can take? I was hoping my doctor would send me to a specialist but I guess he wants to waste my time and money and Im no longer in the mood to wait another week to see if it gets better. Almost forgot, the original chest pain I had was painful to the touch. The chest pain I have know is not painful to the touch. It is also painful to move around like when I put my shoes on.
