Why are the masses of rolls different when they both contain the same number of coins?
If you were given a roll of mixed coins, what information would you need in order to determine the the mass of the roll, without using a scale to measure?

1) each kind of coin weighs different (made of more or less of different materials)
2) you would need to know how many of each kind of coin and that kind of coins specific weight
of course im a high school drop out so that might be completely wrong...

Well this is not a Chemistry question, but hey i can help you so its all good
well the mass of the rolls is different because the coins are different and have different masses- so 50 pennies is not going to have the same mass as a roll 50 quarters, mass is kind of a funny thing, but i hope you understand what i said
now, for the second part, a roll mixed coins will have a very odd mass- the easiest way to find this mass-without a scale, would be to know the mass of each and everyone of the coins, so then you would multiply it by how many of those coins are in the roll, and so on with the other types- and then you would add those up for a total of the mixed coin roll-and dont really worry about the paper that holds the coins- that doesnt have as much mass nearly as much as the coins do
