Hi, this is one question i have no idea how to do. Can someone please tell me the steps of solving it, so ill know how to solve it myself? Thank you!
A 670 mg sample of a compound containing only chromium , sulfate and water of hydration, after heating to drive off the water of hydration, weights 0.367 g . A second sample weighting 0.473 g is dissolved in water and excess aqueous barium chloride is added to precipitate 462 mg of barium sulfate . Calculate the empirical formula of the compound. Use asterisk * to specify molecular water of hydration.
Molar Mass (g/mol):
BaSO4 233.40
Cr 51.966
SO42- 96.064
H2O 18.015
