molarity is moles of solute divided by liters of solution.

So, if you want only 500 mL of that solution, then you are going to need 9 moles of the KlO3. (half of a liter is 500 mL)

Okay, so now you want to set it up as such: (gfm is 214g/mole)

9 moles KlO3 (214g/1mole)
the moles cancel out of the equation
and your answer should be 1926 grams of KIO3 are needed.
