Checking on ESNs

Any suggestions on how to check if an ESN is good besides calling Verizon? I'm looking to do large volumes of checks, and would prefer to do it in an easier way than calling Verizon...

If your a customer, you can login to MyVerizon and try and "activate" one of the suspected phones.
