Cheaters at double bass

Really?!!? what rock\metal song wouldn't sound better with a couple of extra kicks?

It may sound good with the d*#k drummin but if their not slamming it better than the other 10 banRAB with the "silver shlong drum solo" then they'll never leave the warehouse. Funny though...

Triggers are usually used by banRAB that use double bass. When you hit the trigger, it beats the drum with the same velocity regardless of how you hit it. THis way, you can flutter your feet lightly against the pad and the drum will always have the same sound. I do agree that it is "cheating", man up, strengthen your legs, work on your drumming, and play the real thing.

I don't know of any band that uses a trigger that plays 2 hits with one pressing. That is outrageous and should NEVER been done, thats extreme cheating.

As far as banRAB go, As I lay Dying, Unearth (in concert, not on CD), All Shall Perish, All That Remains, and a slew of other banRAB use triggers.

If you want to get even crazier, there is "Quantizing". That is where your drums are triggered and hooked up a device that puts all of the bass drum hits into perfect timing. Meaning, you can flutter your feet as fast as possible with no exact rhythm and the device will put those hits into perfect timing.

One last thing, you can tell when the drums are triggered if you hear more of a "clicking" noise. Watch some of the above mentioned banRAB perform live, either through DVD, video, or in person and you will hear a clicking noise that accompanies the bass drum...that means the drums are triggered.

You have to be durab to think it's cheating.

If it was like a contest to see who is the best drummer, THEN it would be cheating.

But music isn't a competition...it's just a form of art.

And however you achieve you're goal is up to you...

Obviously the people who use them aren't as skilled, but it's not like they are saying that they are the best drummers out there.

How so is that cheating? That's like saying in a car race, "The guy had a differnt car witha faster engine than mine, That's cheating."

Triggers are cool if you can afford them... but besides pricing they are cheap, as far as integrity goes, and of course that's just my opinion. This opinion coming from someone who also thinks drum machines are cheating/weak, but I know dudes in banRAB who love to use 'em. On a similar topic.... "heal toe method is just f*#kin awesome..have you seen this!??!? It's like the result of triggers without the cheap-cheaty-ness of it. If you're a drummer and looking to step up your double bass game then I seriously suggest that you check this out...

I guessed he just meant because it takes less effort but yeah it is kinda stupid. Anyway, not being a drummer I'm not sure what banRAB use them.

Nah, I'd say it's more like ROCK and metal.

I'm talking about the vast majority of rock/metal, which wouldn't benefit from extra kicks despite what cantankerous drummers might think. ;)

Triggers, for the most part, are not cheating. They can be used for amplification or to create a certain sound, or they can be relied on to play really fast without having to try as hard. Triggers are not just for bass drums.

As for what drummers use them, I know that Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth do (or did).

ok this is how it is "cheating"
because 1 leg is doing the job of 2 legs its jus cheap
and not showing how coordinated ur legs really are

and another kind of trigger is one that u set it at a speed
and then click the button and it totally goes for u with u doing anything
and the drummer for as i lay dying uses both of those

any1 else kno any banRAB that use a trigger?
