cheapest unlimited data plan

My girlfriend needs to get phone for work and she really only needs to do email and pda type of stuff on it. We have found lots of suitable phones but not much info on data only plans.

We are in New York City. Does anyone know of the best deals for data only phones?

I know I have seen people who have a blackberry that they only use for email and I figured that they didn't have a voice plan. Is it still possible to get good deals on phones if you only get a dataplan?

Thanks alot

What carrier is she going to use? Even the cheapest plan is too expensive if you don't have a signal.

I also suggest you look at the carrier's web sites or go tot he stores and talk to a rep.

Sorry I guess I was not clear. We are going to start a new contract and can go with any carrier. We are actually trying to figure out which carrier has the best sort of deal for a data only plan.

The websites we have looked at don't seem to specify details for data only plans. I think I have heard they exist and I tried to search the forums but couldn't find anything.

Thanks

Sprint is the cheapest at $15 a month for unlimited data. T-mobile is $30. Cingular and verizon I believe are $40. But those two also have the fastest networks.

Even if you can go with any carrier, you need to figure out which is best where you will use it. Even the NYC area has some problems.

Cingular has 2 unlimited BB data plans. $29.99 for BIS and $39.99 for BES. Both are $5 higher if you do not have a voice plan. There is also a tethering plan, but I do not know the cost. They also have a couple of MediaNet plans starting at $19.99 I think it is. Probably best to go to a corporate store and talk to a sales rep.

Didn't know that. I knew verizon just started rolling out rev a, but I thought sprint was still at rev 0. That's good to know since I'm deciding between sprint and cingular.

ya, its been the big news for Sprint, Verizon is trying to catch up now. Sprint and Cingular (well, AT&T) now have the cheapest data right now with Cingi's new $20 plan.

They force you to get the $40 dollar plan for any pda though. Yeah you can cheat your way around it and get the $20 plan, but I'm not taking chances, I'd rather have the proper plan.
