Cheapest, but best quality backpack?

I want a new backpack for school, I was thinking of getting one from American Apparel http://store.americanapparel.ca/rsanc501.html?cid=49&c=Amethyst%20/%20Silver, but I wanted to compare it to other brands with similar styles. I'm a bit short on the money at the moment, because of the recession and the fact that I can't save money.

What brands have you tried that you like, and what store can I buy them at (in Canada)?
