Cheap Honda cbr600-should buy for a first bike?

I haven't looked at it yet but its only 20miles away....I haven't really ridden a bike yet(just dirt bikes and such)
I've heard alot of things about not getting a sport bike for a first bike but under a 1000bucks for a '93 can't really be past up. I am 18 but not some stupid kid who is gonna be stupid with it.
So you think it would be an Ok bike for a beginner? Nothing real nice so if(when) I tip it it won't be no biggy.
Or do you thing I will kill myself on it? I live out in the country so no bad city driving-plenty of places to practice also...
The bike I really want is a Suzuki sv650. Is this a worse bike for beginners?
 
Our sport bikes" in the CYCLING category are called , Specialized, GT, Norco, Kona and the list goes on but HONDA isnt one of them I have ever heard of.....(scratching my head , eyes up in the air, thinking).......Nope! sorry, try the MOTORCYCLE category where they might know!
