Minimize red meat; use ground turkey instead of beef.
Buy chicken parts in bulk; separate, bag & freeze.
Use fish often, such as tuna, sardines, & calamari.
Buy local fruit & vegetables when in season.
Use whole grain bulk foods: brown rice, pasta, etc.
 
I have a recipe i like to call garbage. Just take raw stew meat and few raw veggies( i like carrots, bell pepper, and pearl onions. potatoes tend to take longer). season with oil and whatever spices you prefer,(cavender's greek seasoning works great) wrap in aluminum foil and bake at 350 for 30min.
Also works well with pork and chicken.
