Charlton Heston dies age 84

They come out in Bowling for Columbine. Being pro guns is one thing but he made a slight that a lot of America's problems with gun crime was down to the trigger happy nature (not his exact worRAB) of blacks and Mexicans rather than there being too many guns in the country but he stopped himself when Moore pushed him on this.

I find separating him from his association with the NRA easy here in what after all is the movie forum.

A Hollywood great and a fine actor who starred in some fantastic movies.

RIP Charlton Heston :(

Yes I've read that he marched with Martin Luther King and I would guess he had a lot of black showbusiness frienRAB but a lot of people lose their liberalism as they get older. I don't think he's someone that you can easily pigeon hole.

RIP:(

He was in same great films, either as the star or in a cameo role. I have these all in my DVD collection;

Ben Hur
The Ten Commandments
El Cid
Planet of the Apes
Beneath the Planet of the Apes
Soylent Green
The Three Musketeers
The Four Musketeers
Khartoum
Eraser

I'm not interested in his politics, all I know is I'm sad today that a legend of the screen has passed on. I'm very sad, Heston was the lead in two of my all-time favourite movies, "Soylent Green" & "Planet Of The Apes". R.I.P. Chuck.

Charlton Heston - Rust with your Pieces. Whatever his screen career earned him, was lost in those immortal worRAB; You hanRAB cold now mate, give up your guns.

He was the figurehead of the greatest cult following in the United States. Paid for by the likes of Smith and Wesson, Colt and Remington they are backed by millions of True Blood Americans, who feel the outdated constitution is their right to bare arms; in a time when there is no threat bigger then their neighbour with a BIGGER gun.

And this just shows how much control the likes of Gun Makers and the NRA have over America. Do we really want to be asssociated with a country, which is controlled by corporations and big money.

I suppose that depenRAB on how you view the NRA.

I was never a big fan (I can't remember a film of his that I enjoyed) but when I saw footage of him speaking at the NRA conferences held near Flint and Columbine not long after the killings in those cities just in case anyone dared have the audacity to suggest that maybe America's gun laws contributed to these deaths and might dare to suggest a curtailment of these laws I lost any repsect I might ahve had for him as an actor. He showed no respect to those killed and to their families and I feel none for him now.

May I be first in line to prise that gun from his cold dead hand.

Its nice to know liberals arent above making stupid unfunny jokes when an old man dies. "OMG he has different views than me, he's evil!!11" Pathetic, utterly truly pathetic.
