Charlton Heston dies age 84

correction, news ticker at 5.49am saying aged 83.

A legend gone but certainly not forgotten.

Edit : Err, whoever works at sky news are now saying he's 84 again, idiots! (5.53 am)

RIP Charles. The world loses another great figure. Agree over the association with NRA: coloured mine and I think a lot of people's opinion about the late actor, and takes just a little away from the accolades he will deservedly have now that he's passed on.
No-one mentioning what, for me, was his iconic role, as Taylor in the film version of "Planet of the Apes".
Will be sadly missed.

Agreed. There is no doubt that he was a great actor in some amazing films, but his political views have somewhat coloured my feelings about him as a person.

I think that is the case for a lot of people.

He was a talented actor but his opinions on gun control leave it impossible for me to mourn him.

I'll never forget that scene from Bowling For Columbine.

A great actor; his political views didn't colour my view of him.

After all, unlike Tom Cruise, his was not a member of a sinister cult, and his views were not unique in the US.

When was the last time you saw a US presidential candidate publicly endorsed gun control? You haven't because then they would be unelectable.

I know what you mean but we could say the same about a lot of other actors and rock stars.

I'll just rate him for his work as an actor which was truly great!

I didn't know Charlton Heston had dodgy political views 'til now,but you can't take away the fact that the guy was one of the greats. Ben Hur,El Cid,Planet Of The Apes, plus my favourite starring Heston,Soylent Green.
