Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I read the book by Roald Dahl and thought it was wonderful.

Hated the film version with Gene Wilder! I know everyone loves it but I could believe more in Charlie as a character in the book than I could the film

Jonny Depp is one of my fave actors so it will be interesting to see how he handles it.

mmm...jonny depp

i did quite like it but in places i seemed to feel cheated that he missed out soe things in the film like the espionage by the bloke under the bridge in the first film. The ending of the film i didnt like so much as i wanted it to be redone like the rest of the film had and not completly change it into what it had become.

I generally liked the film tho and how it did the umpaluphas, johnny was brilliant in the role that he was put into although the script did make the character seem awkard with the flashbacks. Some nice Gene Wilder comments and the comical bumps into the glass elevator made me laugh. Burtons reincarnation of the families involved was great and very modern for the time. Will it remain a timeless classic before the first one, I honestly dont know but at least it wasnt just a remake with money chucked at it and had some character to it
