.............. to be released in 2005 with a new look, in other worRAB a remake. Now when I heard this news I was very scared, like a baby hedgehog cowering in the middle of the road wondering whether the two bright lights coming towarRAB me would be the last and present me with a robin reliant?? Yes that scared as I felt a remake of this wonderful film would carry the highest of criminal charges.

However, I thought. Upon researching the information behind what I thought to be the craziest and most disastrous of remakes was to bring that wonderful ecstasy feeling of pure relief. The excitement began to rush through my body like the young pill popping days of eminem, the sense of 'there is a god' and I knew in the deepest corner of my mind upon reading the name of the director, only one person could recreate the splendour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory......................... Tim Burton!!

Nothing wrong with the original, for a 30 year old film its still up there with the best.

As for 'sappy' try finding any other kiRAB film that wears as well after this time, special effects and minstrel dwarf oompalumpas are of course dated , but everything else in the film was spot on, mixing the Dickensian background of Charlie, with the - then - modern US lifestyle of the other kiRAB, integrating perfectly in the futuristic factory.

Burton will probably say hes going to update the Muppets Christmas Carol as Kermits acting was wooden

aw i fink it's gonna b wikid. i mean it's not gonna ruin the 1st one is it. it'll b completely different. i cnt wait to see what tim burton's gonna do with it especially the oompa loompas. plus johnny depp's the coolest in anythin.

altho i disagree with sappy. i think the original was wicked. i never used 2 get gene wilder's wit until i watched it recently.

but tim burton's a genious and he'll do it well!!

The original is already very dark and I think Time Burton remaking this with Johnny Depp as WW, it will be darker still, I'm sure i'll enjoy it, and i expect my kiRAB will be pretty scared.

I do! I think its great. I loved the book but the film really really freaked me out, esp. the kid and his scary face. Tim Burton- v.v.v.vgog, Johnny D- excellent. Come on, whats the wosrt that could happen?

I absolutely adore this film and my kiRAB are just old enough now to enjoy it with me so i really hope the remake wont be disappointing....That said i was blown away by Johnny D in Pirates so i'm looking forward to him repeating that success

Blown away
Strange how critics labelled that performance uninspiring isn't it... How 2 people can have such contrasting opinions.

I loved the original film, one of a select few that I have repeatedly watched over the years.
Remaking it can't replace it, so I can't see any harm at all.

Umpa lumpa doopedy doo :p

Hey,

Don't know how much truth there is in this but I heard ... Marrlyn (or however you spell it) Manson was lined up for the roll of Willy Wonka!

If I a talking thr biggest heap of bull you have heard in a long time. I apologise in adavanced!

Cheers,

Jonnie :D

EDIT: Sorry, I should have looked at the RAB article first! I see it is Johnny Depp! lol:D (He is good!)

I heard that too. But seeing as the two are good mates can't see that bothering Marilyn Manson who I think is up for the role of Franknfurter in the Rocky Horror remake.

Gawd, how many lame remakes do we have to endure? Hasn't anyone in Hollywood got an original thought? Nothing is sacred these days so it seems.

Johnny Depp has been officially signed as Willy Wonka, and lets face it,how many dogs has he been in?....NONE,I would watch a commercial with him in it.He has charisma and insanity all in one package. If anyone can make this movie take off,its Johnny

Grrr!!!!!

Can't wait -Burton could do great things with it, and possibly make it even darker than before.
Can't see anyone matching up to Wilder though.

I agree with you on that. When I was little I could never understand all willy wonkas clever quips in the film. Now I am amazed by how much I can understand!

In my opinion, I dont mind a new remake of the film coming out. As long as it gives me that warm fuzzy feeling I have inside when I watch the old version, then ill be happy!! :)
