I am leavin for London in about 9 days and I was wondering if it is safe to use a converter to charge my cellphone and iPod because I've heard that It has to have a certain wattage or something. If you have taken yours from the u.s then please let me know how it turned out. Thanks!

A power converter that outputs 110-120 volts a.c. at 60 Hz will be fine.

What may or may not be fine is a less expensive power transformer that drops the U.K. line voltage from 220 to 110 volts, but doesn't change the frequency, which is 50 Hz for them.

Your device may be okay with 110 volts at 50 Hz, but check its label or your owner's manual. If it says 60 Hz instead of 50-60 Hz, I'd want to get a proper converter.
