Characters that ruin the show

The Hip Hippos from "Animaniacs". No characters brought an episode to a screeching halt quite like they did. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that they never once made me laugh.

Oh, and Cheese on "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends". He wasn't bad at first, because the joke was originally that Bloo couldn't put up with his stupidity. Now the joke is just that he's stupid, and he's allowed to carry entire episodes by himself. His jokes don't even necessarily consist of him saying something and another character reacting to it - now we're supposed to laugh at the setup instead of the punchline. It's like what happened to Ralph Wiggum on "The Simpsons", except it happened in two seasons instead of ten.
 
I didn't realize it at the time, but in retrospect, i can see why. Even though Scrooge did show some sympathy towards Bubba, you would think he'd know better that to let a wild caveduck live in his mansion.
 
Nuts? When did he become nuts? Is this during those Ryo moments that occured in like CD dramas, video games, or whatever he used to be in before he appeared in Tamers because if that's the case, I'm still not accepting it. Considering he's suppose to be his own seperate character in his own Digi-universe, why is he even in Tamers aside from fan request (last I heard anyways)?
 
He originated in the Adventures universe. Remember that kid that Ken pushed out of the way of the dark spore? That was Ryo. He is also shown to be one of the kids to witness the fight between Omnimon and Diaboromon in "Our War Games". The video game reveals that there are many Digital Worlds and a variant of Earth to go with them. The V-Tamer Mangas also would feature appearances by Davis, Ryo and Takuya.
 
What the HELL is the deal with THOSE! JTS! JTS!

Adding Chopper to Onepiece didn't feel right at all and I can do without him like before they introduced him.

Meg and Cleveland's wife from Family Guy,

the little fat green characters in Dragonball GT,

Sakura from Naruto,

every girlfriend added to a male superhero to slow down the main story. I think that's the same as 'Pam' from DBGT and that kid with 'Fight' on his/her shirt from Z. They just hang there and don't do much. But they don't quite slow down the story the way Chris did. Chris would sometimes steal an entire ep and towards the end he stole a whole trilogy.
 
The Quarrymen from Gargoyles. Unlike all the other villains, they have absolutely no depth. They go around spreading bigotry just for the hell of it. That's all there is to their motive.
 
Bonnie Rockwaller.

"Kim Possible" is a decently entertaining cartoon, but every moment Bonnie is on screen is a moment where I can feel my skeleton wanting to claw its way out of my body. She is that detrimental to the show. Her insults and holier-than-thou attitude get under my skin, not just because they're cutting, but because the character archetype is such a played-out one.

And as if this wasn't bad enough, there actually came a time where the writers tried to explain why she's like this (cf. "Bonding"). Needless to say, it fell flatter than a pancake fighting a steamroller. As I've explained, countless times, a trend in modern cartoons that needs to go away - forever - is when shows take one episode to pay lip service to why its jerks are the way they are, then pretend as if nothing ever happened in the next. (This might sound unusual given what I just typed, but why did the writers have to invent cardboard cutout older siblings to provide, ahem, "sympathy" for Bonnie? Couldn't they just accept that she just...is without alienating the show's audience?)

Surprisingly, though she has fans. Why?! She's an absolute jerk to everyone, yet (some) viewers treat her like she discovered the cure for cancer. It makes no sense. (Interestingly, this paragraph also applies to "Jimmy Neutron's" Cindy Vortex.)
 
Well, they have absolutely no reason to be bigoted. It's made clear that they're fully aware that the gargoyles are harmless and they have nothing to hate about them.
 
To cite an example that hasn't been mentioned yet:

I like nearly the whole cast of Hey Arnold, but whenever a Rhonda episode showed up I just wanted to change the channel. Seriously, Rhonda is the character whose only purpose is to degrade the rest of the cast and whenever something bad happens to her, someone else ends up taking the blame. Obviously she does the right thing AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE so everything is all fine and dandy, until the next episode when she's again being annoying. Personally, I'm surprised fans of the show hate, say, Lila a lot more than Rhonda.
 
The recent comic is so far doing a better job with the Quarrymen. So far a majority of them are supporting characters from previous episodes like:

Lou and Chaz (From "Kingdom)
Banquio and Fleance (Macbeth's associates)
Sarah Browne (Billy and Susan's mother from "Thrill Of The Hunt")

Castaway himself is more interesting that his Goliath Chronicle's counterpart:
Whereas in TGC he was irrational pretty much all the time, he's showing a little more control in #3. Some New Yorkers are dressing up as Gargoyles for Halloween. So while Castaway ordered the Quarrymen to be ready incase of real Gargoyles, his comment: "Hoods yes, Hammers no".
 
Both Lilo and Penny are key to many plots, although they're far from being my favorite characters.

And what do you expect Lilo to do anyway? She's just a little kid, she can just go along. This isn't Teen Titans so not everyone has superpowers. Most importantly, without her Stitch wouldn't have a home, or emotional support/motivation.
 
I have one that is the polar opposite of this topic: a chacater that would've made a show better

Elgala (Excel Saga): granted, Excel was a pretty good show by itself, but Elgala would've been an awesome addition
 
A friend of mine really likes Rhonda...

Anyway, for me... Ray Ray from Juniper Lee. He was so f***ing obnoxious I wanted to punt him in the Grand Canyon every time I saw him. The fact the writers failed to realize blithering little brothers are NOT good comic relief was frustrating, even though they started to lay off for a time in season three... then went right back to it. I'd have much rathered seen more of Jody and Ophelia; I liked them a lot more and I never really got the impresion they and June were close, best friends. What little of their trinity we saw clicked more than the super tired one of Ray Ray and Monroe. But, that's just me...
