Character Derailment

It's been said before, but the cast of Family Guy is the worst offender, especially Brian. I liked him for his dry, snarky humor, but really lost interest when he became Seth McFarlane's author avatar.

Everyone's mentioned Timmy, Cosmo, and Vickie from Fairly Oddparents, but I'm surprised nobody's said anything about Wanda. Before, she was the voice of reason, who tried to talk Timmy out of making rash decisions about his wishes. Now, she's been reduced to a nagging housewife.
 
I don't know if I've ever seen Vicky being pegged as someone who used to be nice... the usual complaints I see (including mine) is that she started out as the usual "babysitter from hell" and has become nothing but hollow, psychotic evil... because. There's no characterization to her anymore except to simply be evil in ways that, in a logical world, would see her in jail by now.

I remember that in the first few seasons Vicky feared her parents. Then, suddenly, in "Channel Chasers," her parents feared her. Just... snap.
 
I think that's basically my problem with Vicky. When I look back, she really wasn't as bad as she is now. At first, Vicky was the teenage brat that some parents did wind up getting for their kids (albeit the TV show exaggerates it). She would throw a party, send Timmy to bed early, and definitely was not one of the 'cool' babysitters who actually did stuff with the kid instead of watching TV and eating what was ever in the fridge. Vicky seemed frightening partly because, at around Timmy's age, someone in their older teens seems light years older, taller, and more threatening. Cosmo and Wanda originally appeared to Timmy after he had merely been sent to bed early.

It never had her chaining Timmy to a table and threatening to saw off a limb.
 
Couldn't be. It this show wasn't for all ages. They would have her do something MUCH worse. If it was THAT kind of show, they would have her KILL children for comedy.
 
Luanne from King of the Hill really got derailed when she hooked up with Lucky. I don't know why but I lost interest in Luanne's character when she got with Lucky. The last time I remember liking Luanne was when she was lured by the psychopath,that ran a pork plant, into becoming the woman on the logo of the pork plant. That was a creepy episode and was the last time Luanne felt like an innocent moron to me.
 
More of an exaggeration on my part, but definitely wouldn't seem out of character. Truthfully, I barely watch FOP anymore because it just got far too annoying, so if any of her actions did replicate a scene like that, I wouldn't know. However, I recall some scenes with a similar air to it. Nothing as outright as threats or anything, but some downright cruel and dangerous stunts. :sweat: It just goes beyond what she used to be: a brat that the kid hated and the parents would've fired had they known the truth (though in Timmy's case, at least currently, that's subject to debate...)
