Channels Expressvu should Offer

Bell Expressvu should offer all the channels that Cable companies offer. It shouldn;t have to matter whcih sat it's on as long it's avaibale to be carried.
 
Depends...no Latino American channels exept for Telelatino, Vodeotron offers close to 20 channels I heard
 
That's a given.
Cablecos typically don't need to carry every CBC, CTV, Global, etc for every major market.
And how many sat subs really care whether they watch a show on Calgary/Edmonton or Winnipeg/Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal etc.
For Canadian timeshifts, 1 from each timezone is adequate.

At the same time, Bev is quite shy from many other BDU's w.r.t. some specialty ethnic, classic movie and HD, like Nat. Geo, Showcase, TCM, etc.

In addition you underlined MOST, so I'll end with a *C tag, the MOST FREE HD!
 
Subscribers who live in those areas do care as those stations are their local and/or regional stations and are not always available without unsightly antennas.

As far as offering all of the channels that cable offers
The current technology that Bell uses limits the amount of channels they can carry
When they upgrade to MPEG 4 receivers this may allow them to catch up a bit, and I seem to remember reading about another satellite launch close to 2010, so this may allow them to offer more channels
What channels in particular are you looking for that are on cable but not on Bell?

Rogers/Shaw/Cogeco offer close to 4 Portuguese channels... while Bell offers a whopping total of 0!!

I've written letter, complained, B*tched, moaned but its always the same response with them. Basically.. NO. Thats about the only thing i miss that i had with rogers. Portuguese Content.
 
As soon as they get close to what Dishnetwork offers my parents and their friends would change in an instant!!!

ESPN and ESPN2 in HD (U.S. Version - not ESPN Classic Canada), TNT and FX. These are needed to get the Nascar Cup and Bush races that TSN and ABC don't pick up. Also as not to hear that goofy chef on the Lillydale commercials - I would rather eat worms! :eek:
 
Its all about the $$$
If it means losing english programming to add foreign programming, than I'm totally against it
If Bell could make more money by adding foreign/ethnic programming and deleting english programming they would do it in a minute
If its foreign content you want, your best option is usually cable, or to steal dishnetwork, download it from the internet, move back home, but not come to Bell
Maybe with some more space due to mpeg 4 a few ethnic channels will be added, but with more and more HD needed, I can see the "extra" space disappearing quickly
 
Bottom line, I do not see any signifigicant changes in programing in HD till 2009. HD is where it is at!!!!
 
Also they need to have a market when put out a new channel... No offense to anybody, but most Latinos and Portugese use Dish in Montreal... If Bell was to offer such channel how many clients would add them on their programming?
 
Sure you will. Within 2 months all Expressvu HD will HDLite. First MLB, then some NFLST and NHLCI - now RDS etc.

Welcome to wonderful world of DirecTV HD --- oops, I just learned that DTV is doing away with HDLite as they bring more transponders on line and use MPEG4....

Wife won't let me get NHLCI (saturday night games are all I have time for anyways)
And NFLST, bahhh, I'll watch a free HD game, I don't need the ticket
I see where you are going with this....
 
You don't count the Super Liga soccer?

Are you sure Shaw has Portuguese channels? I've never seen them. Outside of Toronto and maybe Montreal, the demand for those channels would be pretty small.
 
they should offer on demand service. maybe with their new sat launch next spring,...
 
Highly unlikely that on demand would coincide with the MPEG4 introduction ( I think this is the launch you are talking about? or is it the new satellite?)
Either way, I can't see them doing on demand in the near future
