I have been taking citalopram for around 3 months. I was not finding it terribly effective, at least in terms of relieving anxiety, which was what it was presecribed for. On top of that, I have experienced enormous weight gain since starting it, despite not eating any more, and increasing my level of exercise. So, my GP has changed me to fluoxetine.

Trouble is, I really don't feel so good since the switch. My sleep was not good anyway, but it has got worse, and I feel exhausted throughout the day.
A couple of questions.
Will this change mean I have to wait another two months before the fluoxetine takes effect?
Is it normal to just stop one SSRI and and switch straight to another, or os there usually some kind of tapering period?

Thanks

If you're not feeling so well since the switch of the meRAB, Best to let your doctor know. Not all react the same to medications. You may be having a reaction to this new med or maybe your doctor would change the dose.
Best to notify the doctor that prescribed you this to be safe.

Wish you well
