Changing default app installation location

Hi,

I'm new to the Andriod OS, so, would appreciate any help on the below.

I'm currently using version 1.5 on my Samsung I5700 (Galaxy Portal / Spica).

What I would like to know is, how I can change the location where apps I download from the Android market get installed ? Currently all apps seem to get installed into phone memory. But I want these to get installed into the memory card so that the phone memory doesn't get filled up.

Appreciate any help with this.

Thanks in advance.

Can the Samsung I5700 even be rooted?

To expand on where Wonsanim is going with this... on the standard Android 1.5 (in fact all versions of Android from 1.0 to 2.1), you cannot choose where apps are installed. They have to go on the SD card.

With Android 2.2 came official support for Apps2SD (which means putting apps on your SD card). Note that I said "official" there? On rooted phones (they're phones where you've done some kind of hack to bypass the security systems in place that normally prevent you from installing custom ROMs/firmware) you can install a customised ROM that will give you this functionality.

However, I don't know much about the Samsung I5700, I don't know if it has been rooted, and even if it has I don't know if there are any custom ROMs for it.
