changing C109R exhaust system

I bought a hard krome 2 into 1 sideburner pipe system and when I went to remove my stock system I noticed a spring welded onto the bottom stock pipe with two rubber tubes going up under the seat. I haven't done much bike work....what does this do and how should I go about taking off the stock system without breaking something?

Thank you

I'm just going through the same problem. That spring you're refering to is an exhaust valve that Suzuki uses to create a louder popping sound. the two tubes are actually cables that run up under the side cover and are operated by an actuator valve. You need to take the cam off and disconnect the cables if you are removing your stock system. They send a cam to replace it. I have bought Cobra dragsters an their instructions say in big bold letters not to rotate the cam or the solenoid, doing so may damage the internal components of the solenoid. I did accidentally move mine and I think I wrecked it. I have a Fi warning and am in the process of trying to correct it. That valve is around $300.00 so be careful with it. Cobra's instructions were very clear I should have been more careful with it.

this acuator is used to increase the back pressure so your torque is increased druring acceleration. they are repairable if you rotate them. just dont force them or you will strip the plastic gear inside. if you do strip the gear it is posible to turn it around to make it work again . the replacement cam tricks the ecu into thinking the valve is still conected and working. your
F1 liight comes on if it thinks the valve is not working. hope this helps
