There are two types of bay leaf. Mine weren't just broken, they were
smashed to itty bitty bits. And a whole pound is a big package, about
the size of a queen size pillow... they smelled very nice but about
all they'd be good for is pickling spice, but that wasn't why I
ordered them. I didn't expect every leaf to be perfect but this was
ridiculous. The next batch they sent were mostly whole leaves, not
all the same size and many discolored/splotchy but very few broken,
and certainly not into bits

Yes, I thought I'd posted that in another post. The fellow at CS was
alright, but was obviously reading a script or flow chart. Then, I got
a call back from someone who said she was training the fellow I talked
to and clarified a little more. So, sometime in the next week I should
see the "old" style chipotle. I don't know what to do with the new
stuff.

It might work instead of cayenne. It wasn't as deep or smoky a
flavor. Of course, I kept buying cayenne for the longest time, because
it was on my list and didn't get taken off, that I have more of that
than just about any spice in my kitchen. :-)

The chipotle is too hot to use much of it at a time, so I'm a little
limited. I don't want to waste it, though. And since I already opened
it, I can't give it to anyone. I might be able to freecycle it if I
tell people it's opened. Or add it to the chickens' water to keep them
healthier.

Carbon? Doesn't your cockatoo get enough from everything else it eats?

To Ranee, I think your leftover "chipotle" might make a decent sauce along
the lines of chile colorado, ranchero, or manchamantel.
