I know I should pick a college that best fits me and not its prestige but I'm rather curious if I could go to one under certain circumstances.
Currently I am a freshman with a 3.4 GPA. I am double majoring in film and English at CSUN, which is an unprestigious school, but I can really care less. I want to become an English teacher or do something with film. I can take the extra load so I don't mind double majoring so much.
Now examine these two scenarios:
Lets say I graduate with at least a 3.0-3.5 GPA (I am kind of a slacker). Do a year of JET (teaching English in Japan), do a year of EPIK (teach English in Korea), two years of Peace Corps (teach English in a third world country), do two years of Teach For America (teach English in an urban American neighborhood), score high in whatever preliminary graduate school test (GRE, etc).
OR
I graduate with a 3.0-3.5 GPA, do a year of JET, score well in whatever preliminary graduate school test, then apply. Could this possibly work as well?
Keep in mind that I want to go to a graduate school for education. And yes there are a bunch of other things to consider (loans, etc.), but right now I just want to know if it is possible to go to an ivy league or its equivalent under those two circumstances.
