certain video files only play the audio when i try to play them, to solve this i

downloaded VLC player. but...? certain video files i download only play the audio when i play them using, lets say windows media center, windows media player, ect..
so i downloaded VLC player, and they work fine. but..
is there a way to make them work on windows media center? so i can view them via xbox 360 windows media center extender?
