Censorship: On & off

Maybe its me, but it seems every 5 to 10 years or so, the censorship change a little in animation.
I was watching Dexter's laboratory a while ago and I was little surprise that I saw a lady...Smoking.
(Its were Dexter's Dad have to arm wrestle, and Dexter help him out)

Another thing I notice are guns. Right now, if you see a gun in U.S animation, its either the gun are different color or its futuristic.
I remember in the 90's I see guns in cartoon all the time. No one gotten shot or anything but...What happen?

And, I been seeing everytime I'm see a fight scene, a little flash pops in everytime someone throws a punch at someone.

Though, I'm just talking about the action/violence which can be very debatable.

Also, another thing I been seeing now the word "Kill" is coming back. Most of the time I hear "Oh no, that might hurt us". But now, "Oh no, that might kill us", (As a joke I mean). And in rare times (Like in the 3rd season of Ben 10: alien force), the word kill can be in a indirect way "I will kill you".

I just find it odd that somethings that was shown 5 or 10 years just leave...And than come back. And sometimes with something new.

Yeah that's how most shows are like any show wolverine's in he's not even allowed to use claws so how is he such a marketing ploys if one of his defining factors are basically used to cut through doors, trees, robot's, and awkward tension when he doesn't like something and pop's them out?
another thing about the punching flash it's bad in DC shows aside from JLU it was really gritty even the batman beyond uncut I only bought that for fight scene's but recently Wolverine and The X-men is really fighting show gold when I saw Emma smashed into that wall by Quicksilver so fast a part of me squealed that show doesn't pull it's punches (pun not intended)

That depends on which show you're watching. The 90s Spider-Man for example, they use laser guns all the time. An example of a recent show with realistic guns/bullets is Iron Man: Armored Adventures. Different networks have to be taken into consideration too.
