Cell Phone use on Sundays at Boot Camp?

A friend of mine told me a couple hours ago that he spoke to his girlfriend every sunday on a cell phone he had sent her, after she notified him that after she had been told no cell phones in BT that all the people she was there with had there phones with them to use on sundays. His girlfriend was in BT for the Army, but my girlfriend is in BT for the Navy. Anyone know if that is just for the Army or for all branches. My girlfriend left last week for BT so i haven't been able to get in contact with her through mail yet and see if this is true, just wanted to know if anyone ahead of time knows if i'll be able to do the same even though she is in the Navy and not the Army like my friends girlfriend.

Don't bother sending her a phone. She will not be able to use it. She can take hers when she leaves but it'll get sent back with the rest of her items. If she takes it she can make her one phone call on it (not always the case) she could call you from the aiport if she has to fly to chicago. Once she graduates basic you (or whoever) can send her phone to her at A school.
The best way to talk to her is through letters. You won't get to talk to her on the phone, and if you do it will be short. I talked to my fiancee when he was there 3 times because his division got phone privilages. But when I went through I made my one call and that was it till we finished our battle stations It just depends on RDC's.

Good luck to both of you.

MY son who just finished Boot camp fro AF got his cell phoen taken away until graduation, however they are allowed to call on a payphone a few weeks into bootcamp.

no cell phone are allowed in Great Lakes. she MIGHT be able to make calls on the pay phones WHEN her ship or division earns them. In fact don't expect ANY to be honest. it was week 8 before my husband or my step son were allowed to call home when they went through boot camp.
