Just a quick question -

Is there any law etc about swapping a cell phone with another person who is with the same carrier? Example - my friend wants my phone and I want her phone. We swap phones and place our sim card in our new phone walk away and start making calls.

That might be a dumb question

All you should need to do is get both devices and call your carrier. Have them switch out the ESNs and you should both be good to go. I have done it a few times.

As for insurance I believe since they are from the same carrier it should carry over but I am not 100%. Just ask when you call.

GSM devices Cowboy .

The only true issue will be with warranty. If you have no insurance or don't have insurance plus warranty, swapping devices could cause an issue if either device stops working for warranty issues. Warranties on cell phones apply to the original user (first account it was used on) and are non-transferable.
