Celebrity events and gift lounges?

I was just wondering, how do actors here about upcoming film premieres, events, and gift lounges that they go to, because some go to loads where as some go to none. Is it done through the agent?

p.s. if it isnt done thru the agent, does any one know a way of finding out about them with out an Alist agent?
