Celebrities doing cartoon voice overs

Oh, it was a practice long before Robin Williams voiced Genie in Aladdin. Take a look at the casts for some other Disney movies:

In The Rescuers, you had Eva Gabor and Bob Newhart voicing the main characters.

The Jungle Book had Phil Harris, Sebastian Cabot and Louis Prima among the cast members.

Then there was Vincent Price voicing the main villain in The Great Mouse Detective.

And who was the most recognizable name in the voice cast for Oliver and Company? Billy Joel.

So, it's not a recent trend.

Heck, you can even go back to 1951 with Alice in Wonderland - actors Ed Wynn and Jerry Colonna provided the voices of the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, respectively.

It's certainly not a new trend, no, but it seems to be more prominent now than ever before.
