Lord wont do anything.? Hi I live in California and yesterday it rained pretty heavily. This happened in one of the rooms in our two bedroom apartment. There were some leaks on the ceiling and we called the manage to take a look at them. He went to the roof and tried to fix them. The leaks stopped for a few hours, but then started again. We called the manager again and he went up ahead to try and fix them. The leaks stopped just like before but then later on at 12 am started again. We had gone to sleep and around 3 AM there was some very heavy leaking and flooding in the room. We placed some buckets to catch the water and went to sleep again. Around 6Am we woke up and the leaking continued. We called the manager and he came to take a look. Then he left and suddenly the ceiling came down! Well part of it like one quarter. We had damage from the water on things we own but the land lord says he can't replace anything. He says it isn't his fault our things got wet. So I'm not sure what to do now. Should try and take him to court? Do I even have a case? We just moved in around 3-4 months ago and It had not rained at all. When it did rain which was yesterday the heavy leaks appeared and the ceiling came down. The manager said that one of the ceiling drains in the roof had been clogged and because of that water built up then the leaks began and the ceiling came down.
Well he said he won't do anything about the things that got wet for us. He will however fix the roof. I just don't think this is right because everything happened so quickly. I mean. The ceiling came down in a single day! Doesn't that say something?
