CD player not working, please help!?

I just bought a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire, and noticed that the CD player will not play. Every time I insert a disc, its loads for a few seconds, then says "CDS STOP". In my handbook, it says nothing about it saying "STOP" or "PLAY" so I'm not sure what it means. Any ideas?
 
The player is not able to read the TOC (disc table of contents), possibly resolved by cleaning the optical pick-up. Player needs to be removed, carefully clean optical head with Q-tip. Also, confirm the optical lens slide is clean allowing easy movement,
