CD Changer Problem On '03 Chrysler Sebring?

I have a 2003 Chrysler Sebring convertible. I recently replaced the ignition swith in the steering column and now my CD changer doesn't work. It's a 6-disc changer and all it does is alternate flashing the lights on discs 1-3 and 4-6, three lights back and forth and displays "Error" in the radio display. My tape deck or AM/FM is not affected. Also, the A/C only works when I put the fan speed to 3 or 4 and blows out like its on 3 or 4, but the first two speeds do nothing. Please help!

What it sounds like either the Cd player is faulty or that it's circuit internally is stuck in the error mode or simply it's in the wrong mode.Inside these Cd players they've sensors and switches that are much like the timing on a engine and if any of these sensors or switches are off the display will indicate an error in each and every player mode as you're mentioning all the constant flashing. This is normal for any display device that is in the wrong mode or out of alignment so this tells us the internal comp is confused or off set and one way to reset this is to disconnect the system and it can be done within seconds or mins with some systems, but I'd wait a good 20 mins to be positive it's had a chance to reset fully.Basically the comp inside the CD player stores data and this basic data is the bios info that basis info will be lost when no constant battery feed exists and force the bios info to be reset ,so if you know the stereos constant 12 volt feed fuse local you could simply remove it for a few mins and it should be inside the vehicle in it's fuse box.

Another problem could be if it's a original factory system it might have lost part of it's memory or security info settings and you might need to re-enter the security code sequence of numbers.

What comes to my mind here is due to you dealing with the ignition the main comp or comps could be out of whack slightly , just like the Cd player is.I'd be checking up on any possible security codes for the ignition and stereo system via my owners manual and dealerships if needed.

Most vehicles do have such security codes and it's quite possible the comps aren't quite working right , even when it comes to the A/C system so to be sure what I recommend is to reset the whole comp system via dealership or by simply disconnecting the battery for a few mins and then enter the security access codes.

It could be the module or resistor in the fan circuit but again really if a factory stereo unit and it came with the vehicle etc, I'd be thinking it might be that it needs to be fully reset and again if you did disconnect the battery or either the wiring harness or unplug the ignition when you dealt with it then I'd be for sure desiring to reset the whole system. You can try going to a parts outlet and getting a free print out diagram etc of the fan circuit and also ask about what resistors or modules in that circuit.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way I'd also be checking with the dealerships about possible related or other service bulletins or 60 buck or so flash or program updates on that vehicle.
