While this has been know for a long time, it is offical now, CBS is bring back a couple of old cartoon franchises from the 1980's, the Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake.

Everything old is new again. Though these shows didn't air on CBS, it would feel more nolsalgic if old CBS saturday morning shows like Garfield and Friends, Pee Wee's Playhouse, etc. were back.

Actully Strawberry Shortcake was really a series of specials.

The Care Bears is going to be CGI, I am not sure about Strawberry Shortcake, but it might be CGI.

I don't know much if anything about Strawberry Shortcake, but in the case of the Care Bears, I hope they bring back the old villains like No Heart, Professor Coldheart, and maybe even the Spirit Book, even if it is CGI. Having the conflict with villains is what made the Care Bears interesting, without effective villains, it is PBS level boring.

As much as I want to see Care Bears done right, with No Heart and Beastly, it'll most likely be a watered down kiddy 'safe' cartoon like Nick Jr. or Playhouse Disney airs, like what they did to Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony, and abandon the 'evil' villains that opposed them (The Purple Pie Man, the Wtiches of Mt. Gloom, etc)

I said I hoped they would bring back the old classic CB villains from the old tv shows and movies, but like you I don't expect it. And from what I hear the new Care Bears is from DiC, they might not even have the rights to the Nelvana villains, the only old school villain they could use is Professor Cold Heart and his team. Not that there is anything wrong with Professor Cold Heart, though I prefer No Heart.

And to elaborate on your point doing the Care Bears right with No Heart and Beastly, doing the show right with Chris Wiggins and John Stocker playing them if they are still alive or in good health. Any other CB character, they use different voice actors, while it will sound different, wouldn't hurt the overal quality nearly as much with different actors playing No Heart and Beastly, they were so distenctively had unforgetable voices and personalties that you can't duplicate with other actors. No offense to the other old CB voice over actors.

But I hope, but don't expect it on your life, for the new Care Bears to have a variety of villains, and have No Heart's evil team and Professor Cold Heart's evil team in the same world. Once and a while they or their sidekicks could team up with one another. (An intersting idea is Beastly and Frostbite wanting to impress their bosses and catch some Care Bear, bump into each other, and team up)

The Care Bears are not nearly close to the top of my favorite 80's cartoons list, but I thought they were a decent cartoon of that era, espcially the first two movies.

On the subject on revivals, each show should stand on its own, I can't stand Shaggy and Scooby Doo Get A Clue, but I still love the Scooby Doo franchise.

StrawBerry Shortcake is/was syndicated on my CW station, and it's not CGI, assuming it's the same show

Thundercats has been dealyed til 2008 at the moment Anarky

Care Bears and Starwberry Shortcake are returning at the same time.

Among this year's hit movies was Transformers, with G.I. Joe soon to follow.

Thundercats revival on the horizon....

The Fifi Fanatic feels like he has entered a time warp and like, totally returned to the 80's, fer sure.
