Caught in the middle once again...

I just moved into this house today. Apparently my landlord and his neighbors don't like each other at all. So, as I was moving my stuff inside, the neighbours, who were sitting around drinking beer, asked me to come sit with them and started trash talking the landlord, who, by all accounts, is a nice guy.

According to them, he's the asshole.
According to him, they're the assholes.

It seems everybody decided to unload their problems on me.:happysad:
 
SUCKS for you man. I'd just play both sides against the middle. Tell the neighbors you "just need a place to live and don't want to cause any problems", and tell the landlord "I don't like to associate with my neighbors". Case closed.
 
JLXC has a point. Just tell them you don't want to be a part of this. You like where you live and just don't want to be in the middle of whatever feuds are going on around you that you are not originally a part of.
 
wow, getting suck in the middle blows chunks. Well dont go along with both because you are just going to end up being a backstabing you-know-what, so just nicely nod your head and run home, fast...and be sure to lock your doors :]
 
It's a drag when folks start considering you the male equivalent of Dear Abby. Have you considered maybe planting a Swiss flag on your porch?
Of course, chances are someone is going to get confused and think you're the local Red Cross, so might want to have coffee and doughnuts available at all hours.
 
You can't be put in the middle unless you allow them to put you in the middle. Just tell them all, you aren't interested in their fight. Then get on with your life.
 
Well I'd say if ya' want to be in the middle of it, I say your fine where your at. If you don't want to be, I'd say don't talk to your neighbors, use excuses like your busy or you have stuff to do. And for the landlord, you should still talk to him- only on buissness matters though. That's the best way to go with that one.
 
That sucks. I would just be nice to both. Say hi, act nice and don't get in the middle of it. There's obviously more going on than you know about. Good luck with your situation. :hug2:
 
If you do decide to take a dive into the middle of it, you could always tell them that they are both assholes. Tell them that they are arguing over nothing and that rather than being annoyed by one another, they could hang out and ok I have to stop posting now, because there is a gigantic cockroach dieing right in front of the damn monitor and it won't stop twitching so um... tape poop logs to their doors or something.

By the way, a cockroach can live up to 9 days after its head has been removed from its body.

And no, I don't plan to get caught in the middle. They tried to make me, but that is not going to happen.
 
This reminds me of a episode I saw of spongebob squarepants once.

Squidard got spongebob and patrick in a fued, and they both decided to hang out with squidard. Squidard got annoyed and eventually sat them both down and they kept dranking soda, or something. They eventually exploded and became friends again. Something like that.

Anyhow, I think what you could try to do is sit them both down and make them resolve their differences. I'm not sure if it'll work, but it's worth a try.
