Cats indoors or outdoors?

The thing is I think we're about to get 2 kittens (about 2 months old or a bit more).

My mom is completely against them being 100% indoors. I told her I would be more than willing to let them inside my room but the problem is ventilation. Even though I have a window that takes up 1/3 of my wall and has a screen, she is afraid that the cats will just claw their way through it if I open my window (Is this true?). To be honest, I want them indoors but due to certain circumstances, my mom would rather them be in the patio.

Our patio is an enclosed place with a roof. The only problem is that the walls are also made of screens with a few metals to support the uphold. The knobs ob the patio doors are also easily opened so they might escape and mingle with the stray cats in the backyard. I'm afraid of my kittens becoming cold towards me if they are forced to stay in the patio.

They are probably around 2-3 months old. Would it be safe for them outside during the night? (She says it's fine to put them indoors occasionally but not mostly and especially not at night.) I would be really fine with them sleeping on my BIG BIG bed. (I only use up half of it myself).
