Cat with FLV staying with me and my other cats....segregated?

A friend dumped her cat on me without telling me he has luekemia until she showed me his meds that I have to give him. He's four years old and otherwise healthy. I have other cats, is my concern, however, she told me that they would be safe as long as they had no contact with the foster kitty. I read about i and this seems to be the case- that my cats won't catch it unless they come into contact with the infected cat, which they won't because I have the FLV cat in my sunroom, which is separated by a door and totally secluded from the other cats. Should I be worried about petting him and then petting my other cats? Please help me. I don't know what to do, and I am really upset and worried. What can I do to prevent them from getting this illness? Is separating them enough?
