Castaway - What's in the box?

Could someone please tell me what was in the Fed-Ex box that Tom Hanks didn't open and delivered right at the end?

What was so special about that one box, that he wouldn't open it, but he would open all the others?
 
I have to say that that was probaby my least favorite ending ever, from a good film. It was really ambigous and unfufilling.

Anyway I think it was a set of wings, made by the woman. However I dont know why he was taking it back to her, as she was the sender and it should have had a delivery address on it?

Perhaps the wings were broken?
 
The contents of the box was irrelevant. He kept the package in order to deliver it in person... if he ever got off the Island. I guess 'hope' was in the box...
